Ed Austin MCIEEM - Partner

Ed has been a professional environmental consultant since 2002 and became a full-time ecological consultant in 2004. He has a broad range of project experience and technical knowledge with a particular interest in habitat assessment, ornithology and wetland ecology. Ed holds Natural England survey licences for barn owl, great crested newt and white-clawed crayfish. He has a thorough understanding of UK wildlife legislation and biodiversity planning guidance.

Ed graduated from the University of Southampton in 2001 with an honours degree in Zoology and went on to complete an MSc in Integrated Environmental Studies. 

Ed's project experience includes a wide-range of mixed-use, residential, renewable energy and infrastructure development projects. In addition, he has provided ecological advice in relation to major urban open space projects, balancing access to nature with conservation sensitivities. Ed has also completed audits of major river systems in England and Wales to support their international designation for nature conservation importance.

Stephen has worked as a professional ecologist since 2005. He is a strong field ecologist with particular expertise in habitat and protected species survey and assessment. Stephen holds current Natural England Survey Licences for barn owl, smooth snake, sand lizard, bats and great crested newt, and has held equivalent survey licences in Wales and Scotland. Stephen is experienced in a wide range of bat survey techniques and the preparation and implementation of licensed mitigation for this species group.

Stephen also graduated from the University of Southampton in 2001 with an honours degree in Zoology. He subsequently completed an MSc in Wildlife Management and Conservation at Reading University. 

Stephen has worked on projects ranging from small scale wind turbine and single property housing developments to major residential and infrastructure projects, leading and coordinating the delivery of ecology surveys and services. He is an experienced and pragmatic Ecological Clerk of Works, and regularly manages teams of ecologists conducting reptile and amphibian mitigation and translocation schemes.
